Character Sheet, Storyboards, Animatics.
I went through a few designs before finally settling on this one. Some of the earlier designs have her as a doll and a real creepy one at that (like Raggedy Ann). I know she doesn't have any clothes; I did that so I can actually model the body. After doing such, I didn't know how to add clothes to the character. In either case, if I can find some of my drafts, I'll upload them. I was aiming for chibi/anime/Cabbage patch doll, since Mene is really short for Menehune (a Hawaiian spirit much like a house elf/brown in Western mythology). They also have their own bottled water in Hawaii. =D
Hopefully I'll be able to get to the final scene segment I have on the storyboards/animatics. I have her throwing a Pele bomb. Pele is a major deity in the Hawaiian mythos, and she's primarily the goddess of fire/volcanoes (there are a lot of volcanoes in Hawaii and all). I figured this could be an attack you get later on in the game.

Project Synopsis
The Proposal
For my final project, I was looking more for doing a simple character creation project. At first I wanted to create a character that was more like a dog (with four legs), however I feel that at this time, as a modeler/animator, I can't really conceptualize on how to do so properly plus learning a new program simultaneously.
So for my new porject proposal, I'm still doing a project based on a simple character design, but of an human/person than a quadruped. My character is the main character in a simple adventure game meant for a console, possibly on xbox live arcade. Although the game project itself is more extensive, the character for the project will be a small girl.
I want to do just a back walk cycle with possibly a jump introduced like you would when you play a game, and probably with the basic turnaround for a character design portfolio. She'll probably look more like a little animated token from a board game.
Brief Game Introduction
The game's working title is called "The Mystery of Mauna Kea." It is basically an action/adventure with puzzle solving and a mystery you have to solve. The main character is Mene, a little girl who lives close to Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. The time period is modern but not specified. Mene lives in a small village (working title "Wai'po) where she lives with her family. The story starts with a news broadcast about people disappearing near (working title) Kai'pau river. That night, Mene's little brother also goes missing. Mene sets out (secretly) in order to go find him. With the help of the local spirits and maybe from the gods themselves, will Mene be able to find her little brother and save the missing villagers from a horrible fate?

3DS Max
I'm going to post stuff here for my 3DS Max class as I start to finish them. It makes them much easier to view I think.
